Man and the Animal World

This is a massive volume of fifty-four papers in memory of Sandor Bokonyi, the eminent Hungarian zooarchaeologist and author of an impressively long list of publications. The papers, by archaeologists, zooarchaeologists, historians, anthropologists and comparative linguists, reflect the multi-disciplinary nature of his work. They mainly concentrate on the zooarchaeology of prehistoric Central and Eastern Europe, ranging from the theoretical (Attitudes to pets in the ethnolinguistic record by Eszter Banffy) to the firmly practical (Comments on fish skeletal representation from Iberian archaeological settlements by Arturo Morales Muniz and Eufrasia Rosello Izquierdo).
