A szecesszió divatja búcsút intett a 19. század kényelmetlen öltözködési formáinak, a pompára törekvő viseleteknek, és elhozta a hölgyek számára az elegáns, ugyanakkor egyszerű és praktikus öltözékeket. Az Iparművészeti Múzeum gyűjteményéből válogatott estélyi, nappali és szabadidős viseletek, kiegészítők, valamint a korszak viselkedés- és öltözködéskultúráját bemutató tanulmány betekintést engednek a 19–20. század fordulóján élt nők gardróbjába és szabadabb, a konvencióktól egyre inkább szabadulni vágyó életmódjába.
Csepregi Noémi művészettörténész, muzeológus, az Iparművészeti Múzeum Textil- és Viseletgyűjteményének munkatársa. Fő kutatási területei: az Iparművészeti Múzeum gyűjteményezésének kezdete, a historizmus iparművészete, illetve a századforduló és a 20. század első felének viselettörténete.

This selection of evening, daytime and leisure wear and accessories from the collection of the Museum of Applied Arts, Budapest provides, together with a study on the standards of behavior and dressing at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, an insight into the wardrobe and freer lifestyle of women who increasingly wanted to rid themselves from the control of conventions.
Noémi Csepregi is an art historian and museologist, who is a curator of the Textile and Costume Collection at the Museum of Applied Arts, Budapest. Her main research interests are the beginnings of collection building at the Museum of Applied Arts, Historicist applied arts, and the clothing history of the turn of the century and the first half of the 20th century.
